Why buy the Vaporetto ticket online?

Same official ACTV ticket, same price, three advantages.

No machine queue on arrival

At peak hours (10–13, 15–18) the Marco Polo machines can queue for 10 to 20 minutes. With a voucher you walk to the machine, scan your QR code, get the ticket in under a minute.

Free cancellation

Up to 24 hours before your booked use date you can cancel free of charge through GetYourGuide. Buying at the machine does not give you that flexibility.

Use on any day

You can use your ticket on any day — not necessarily the calendar date you bought it on. The clock only starts at your first tap.

Step-by-step — from booking to first ride

No app to install. No phone ticket. Just a voucher in your inbox and a yellow Tappy reader at the pontoon.

1
Step 1 · Before you go

Pick your variant on GetYourGuide

Choose 75-minute single, 24-hour, 48-hour, 72-hour or 7-day. You also pick a placeholder date — informational only. The voucher works on any day.

2
Step 2 · In your inbox

Receive the voucher with QR + PNR

GetYourGuide emails you the voucher in seconds. Save the PDF or screenshot the QR code. The alphanumeric PNR code is a fallback if the QR scanner fails — but the QR is faster and avoids the classic "I" vs "1" confusion.

3
Step 3 · At the machine

Redeem at any Venezia Unica TVM

Marco Polo arrivals hall, Piazzale Roma, Santa Lucia, Tronchetto, Lido San Maria Elisabetta and the larger pontoons all have machines. Tap "Collect ticket", scan the QR. Out comes the physical ACTV smart-ticket. Under a minute.

4
Step 4 · On the pontoon

Tap the yellow Tappy reader and board

Hold the ticket against the yellow Tappy reader at the pontoon. Green light, beep, board. Your clock starts. Re-tap on every transfer — even with a multi-day ticket.

Where the Venezia Unica machines (TVMs) are

You can redeem your voucher at any of these locations. Pick the one closest to your arrival point.

QR over PNR. The QR code is faster and avoids the classic "I" vs "1" or "0" vs "O" confusion that catches people typing the alphanumeric PNR by hand. Keep the QR ready on your phone.

The voucher rule that saves the trip

"You can use your ticket on any day — not necessarily the calendar date you bought it on." — that is the official GetYourGuide wording. You can book months in advance, pick any placeholder date, and then redeem when it actually suits you.

Marco Polo airport bus is separate. This pass covers Venice city transport only. The Marco Polo airport bus (ACTV Aerobus / ATVO) and the Alilaguna airport boat are NOT included and require a separate ticket — or a paid add-on at the ticket machine.

What 22,529 travellers say about the Vaporetto ticket

4.5 out of 5 stars on GetYourGuide — 72% give the Vaporetto ticket five stars. A few of the most recent reviews:

★★★★★

“Works nicely. Tickets could be retrieved with the voucher number directly at our bus station (white/yellow ticket machine).”

★★★★★

“Easy to redeem the tickets and so convenient to use and travel around Venice, Murano and Burano at our own pace. Highly recommended rather than joining a tour.”

★★★★★

“The way to go when in Venice. A sure money-saver since the waterbus is the only means of transfer from one place to another, especially if you want to visit Murano and Burano. Without a pass, each ride costs you about €11.”

★★★★★

“Easy to use, but you need to exchange the voucher for a ticket at the ferry terminal. I did this on arrival from the main station, was really easy to follow and took literally a few minutes.”

★★★★★

“Great! Easy to use and saw so much more than just Venice. The vaporetti that went to the outer islands were so much fun.”

★★★★★

“Great way to see Venice and all the islands. Better value and more fun than a gondola. The ticket worked perfectly at the machine first time — and the screen is in English if you are worried.”

Buying-process FAQ

Yes — the QR code on the phone screen scans at the TVM. A screenshot also works. Make sure brightness is up so the scanner reads it cleanly.

Download or screenshot the voucher before you fly. The PNR code (alphanumeric) is printed on the PDF too — type it into the machine if the QR scan fails.

No. One voucher = one ticket. If you book two passengers, GetYourGuide sends you two voucher codes (one per traveller) — redeem each at the machine.

Yes. The voucher is not bound to the calendar date. Redeem whenever it suits — the validity clock only starts at the first Tappy tap, not at redemption.

Yes. You can use your ticket on any day — not necessarily the calendar date you bought it on. The clock (75 min, 24 h, 48 h, 72 h, 7 days) only starts when you first validate it at the yellow Tappy reader.
