Two modern tram lines connect the mainland (Mestre, Marghera, Favaro Veneto) with Venice. T1 is the standard way to/from a Mestre hotel. Both included in your Vaporetto ticket.
Booked via GetYourGuide
T1 runs 14 kilometres from Favaro Veneto through Mestre town centre and Mestre railway station to Piazzale Roma — Venice's only mainland-to-island tram connection. 23 stations, about 39 minutes end-to-end. Every 10 minutes Mon–Sat, every 15 minutes Sun.
T2 is a mainland-only line connecting Mestre Centre with Marghera. 14 stations, every 10 to 15 minutes. Useful if your hotel is in Marghera or you need to get between the two mainland districts.
Cheap Mestre hotels are 10 minutes from Mestre rail station; T1 takes you from there to Piazzale Roma in about 20 minutes. Often faster than queuing for a bus.
If your high-speed train terminates at Venice Mestre (not Santa Lucia), the T1 tram is right outside the station — 20 minutes into Piazzale Roma. No need to switch to a slower regional train.
T2 connects the industrial Marghera district with central Mestre. Standard commuter route.
Yes — both T1 and T2 are part of the ACTV "Rete Unica" coverage. Every Vaporetto ticket variant includes them. Tap on board.
For a casual rider yes — the train is €1.50 single (or included in the 24-hour Vaporetto ticket only). The tram is included in all Vaporetto tickets. The train is faster (10 minutes vs. 20), the tram more comfortable with luggage.
Limited service after 23:00. The night bus N1/N2 takes over and is also included in your Vaporetto ticket.
