What Line N does

Line N is Venice's essential after-hours vaporetto. From San Zaccaria around Giudecca to Tronchetto, Piazzale Roma, Ferrovia, then back through the Grand Canal (Rialto, Accademia, San Marco) and out to Giardini, Sant'Elena and Lido S.M.E. Around every 20 minutes between 23:30 and 01:30, then hourly until 04:30.

Best ways to use Line N

Late dinner, no taxi

Dinner in Castello or Cannaregio, drinks after, no need for a water taxi — Line N runs until 04:30 with proper Grand Canal stops. Pop your ticket onto the Tappy reader and board.

Empty Grand Canal photos

Around 01:00 the Grand Canal is almost empty. Line N gives you the standard Line 1 route without the crowd — long-exposure photos from the back of the boat, palazzi lit, water like glass.

Lido and back

Line N runs all the way to Lido S.M.E. If you have a late evening at the Lido (the casino, a beach bar in summer), you can still get back to the city without paying for a private taxi.

What you can reach with Line N at night

After the daytime lines stop, Line N keeps the whole Grand Canal alive. The same iconic stops, with empty pontoons and lit palazzi.

Practical tips for Line N

Marco Polo airport bus is separate. Does not cover the bus or boat from Marco Polo Airport — see airport transfer options.

Yes — that is its main purpose. It serves Rialto, Accademia and San Marco as well as the Giudecca route. It is the only night service to use the Grand Canal.

Yes. Every Vaporetto ticket variant covers Line N, NLN and NMU — no surcharge for night service. Just tap the Tappy reader before boarding like any daytime ride.

Venice is one of the safest European cities and the night vaporetto is well-lit and crewed. Standard sensible behaviour, but no extra concerns.
