Vaporetto Tickets

Vaporetto vs. Alilaguna — they look the same. They are not.

They share canals, they share docks, and the boats look similar. But Alilaguna is a separate private operator and your Vaporetto ticket does NOT cover it. Here is the clean breakdown.

The core difference in one paragraph

The Vaporetto is the public city transport, run by ACTV. It runs everywhere inside the lagoon and city — but it does not go to Marco Polo Airport. Alilaguna is a private operator with three lines (Blue, Orange, Red) that connect Marco Polo with the city by boat. Different company, different tickets, different fares.

Where each one wins.

Vaporetto

Whole city + lagoon, NOT the airport

Alilaguna

Marco Polo Airport ↔ city only

The three most common misconceptions

"My 72-hour Vaporetto ticket covers Alilaguna."

No. The Vaporetto ticket (any variant) covers ACTV vehicles only — vaporetto, bus, tram, People Mover. Alilaguna is a different operator. Their 24/48/72-hour Alilaguna passes are sold separately at the airport.

"Alilaguna is the express to the airport."

Not really. Alilaguna takes 60–90 minutes from the airport to San Marco. The ACTV Aerobus / ATVO bus takes 20–25 minutes. Alilaguna wins on scenery, not speed.

"They look the same — they must be the same."

Boat shapes are similar (they all operate in the lagoon), but Alilaguna boats have a distinctive blue band along the hull and are labelled "Linea Blu", "Linea Arancio" or "Linea Rossa". ACTV vaporetti are unbranded with line numbers.

Booking the Alilaguna anyway?

If you decide the scenic boat from Marco Polo is the right choice for your arrival, here is the direct GetYourGuide ticket — same Bucintoro Viaggi voucher you would buy at the airport counter, with free 24 h cancellation.

Vaporetto vs. Alilaguna FAQ

Both, separately. Book a Vaporetto ticket for your city days (24h, 48h, 72h or 7-day). Book the airport transfer separately — Alilaguna for scenery or ACTV/ATVO bus for speed and price.

A summer-only Alilaguna service (late April to late October) from Marco Polo via Murano and the Lido to San Marco. Slightly different stops than the Blue and Orange. Same €18 price.

Yes — directly on alilaguna.it or at GetYourGuide. The 24/48/72-hour Alilaguna passes are counter-only, not online.
