Line 3 — the fastest route

From Piazzale Roma or Ferrovia, Line 3 reaches Murano Colonna in about 20 minutes. Direct, big boats. Catch only Monday to Friday, 06:21 to 19:18 — no service evenings or Sundays.

Line 12 — the all-week workhorse

From Fondamente Nove (pontoon "A") to Murano Faro in about 10 minutes, every 20 minutes from 04:20 to 22:25. Continues on to Burano. The most flexible option.

Lines 4.1 / 4.2 — the sightseeing loop

From Fondamente Nove or any outer-ring stop, 4.1 and 4.2 swing past Murano on their full Venice loop. Slower but more scenic, all week, every 20 minutes.

Murano practical tips

Murano has three pontoons in town — Colonna (for Line 3, 4.1, 4.2), Faro (for Line 12) and Navagero/Museo (Lines 4.1/4.2 and Line 7 in summer). Plan your stop before boarding.
Ignore the "free water taxi to a glass factory" offers around San Marco — they are commission-driven and reportedly aggressive. Take the vaporetto, walk in, and visit any glass workshop directly.
For a Murano + Burano combo day, ride Line 12 — it stops at Murano Faro on the way to Burano, so you can do both with one continuous route.
A 75-minute single ticket is not enough for return (the leg alone is 20–30 min). Use a 24-hour ticket or longer for any island day.
