Torcello is the quietest of the four main lagoon islands — fields, a Byzantine cathedral, almost no shops. Two routes: Line 12 + Line 9 shuttle via Burano (easiest), or Line 12 direct with a phone-booked request stop.
Booked via GetYourGuide
Torcello is a request stop on Line 12, so most visitors go via Burano instead — easier and almost as fast.
Take Line 12 from Fondamente Nove to Burano (about 45 min), then the tiny Line 9 shuttle Burano ↔ Torcello (every 15 min, 5-min crossing). The standard tourist route.
Line 12 will stop at Torcello on request — call ACTV at 800 845 065 at least 20 minutes before your departure. Useful if you want to skip Burano. Slightly faster, but you have to phone.
The night service NLN to the northern lagoon serves Torcello on request only. Not relevant for a day visit, but lets you return to Venice late if you stay for sunset.
Line 12 only stops at Torcello if at least one passenger has called ACTV at 800 845 065 ahead of time (20 minutes minimum). Otherwise the boat sails past. Booking via the Line 9 shuttle from Burano is easier.
Not directly — they are separated by a wide lagoon channel. But you can walk between Burano and Mazzorbo (across a footbridge) — same Vaporetto ticket continues you on Line 12 either way.
Yes — both Line 12 (request stop or direct via Burano) and Line 9 (Burano ↔ Torcello shuttle) are included in every Vaporetto ticket variant.
Official ACTV ticket via GetYourGuide. Use on any day. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before use.
